How To Be A More Successiony Writer

Hello writer pals, and am sure many of you will have heard of, and maybe watched, HBO’s series Succession, which ended its fourth series recently. I was a fan, and thought it worth researching whether there were lessons to be learnt from the interviews with Jesse Armstrong, main creator and his writers room.

The full lesson on this is now loaded up at Lesson 70 of The Complete Freelance Writing Course. It includes sections on generating possibilities, character fixation, research for real, small settings and delivery dates, with practical ideas about all of these.

Next, a thank-you, thank-you, thank-you! I’ve been reviewing course reviews over the past week, and your comments are much appreciated and valued. I feel extremely lucky to have so many lovely and talented students from across the globe. As well as discussing writing, we also get to chat sometimes about how the state of your nation, wherever you are in the world.

Last week I got to chat with Jakub Zieliński, who was a student a while back, and has gone on to do very interesting work, since then. Here’s his new agency https://cayenneflow.com/. All best wishes to him – and if you’re a former student and up to something interesting, then I’d love to hear from you, and share your good news as inspiration.

Here are a couple of You Tube videos about Succession, which I enjoyed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2XAxyeKDXsg and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQBctf7dCr8
