Hello writer pals, and if it’s summer where you are, do hope it’s as glorious as the one we experience currently in West Wales.
I’m lucky here to live near Llangwmlitfest, an amazing community literary festival, in a small village, all conjured up by a wizard of invention, organization and pulling-people-together, Michael Pugh. This year’s highlights included locally-born and award winning historical novelist Sarah Waters, democracy champion Carol Cadwalladr and hysterically witty travel writer Ben Aitken.
Over the three days, lawyer turned coach and yoga teacher Ryan Spence facilitated creative writing workshops, based on his books Triple C Method and Triple C Project. Feedback was great with comments like ‘ just what i needed’ and ‘a most mindful approach to being a writer’. (thanks Annie and Christian).
Ryan writes in a most conversational way and his advice is based on his own experience of writing books to change direction in life, using his personal story and examples of his clients.
If you’re a non-fiction writer, who is keen to write a book based on your mission in life, then Triple C Method could be just the catalyst you need.

Your Daily Practice
In his book, Ryan suggests that it’s much better to commit immediately to writing for 15 minutes 5 times a week, than to put off your writing until a mythical ‘perfect time’, when you’ve less work, the kids are better behaved and your dog’s not got worms.
The Writers’ Hour, run by London Writing Salon is a 50, rather than 15, minute daily practice which takes place online across the globe. There are several levels of membership available and talks and workshops which change weekly.
I find this community encourages and motivates, and celebrates members’ achievements. This morning for example, member Sheryl Garratt gave us a motivational quote in celebration of her new title Creative Play, just published. With 365 suggestions for creative sparks, this looks like just the treat to make your autumn term ideas fruitful.
