Joan Didion Writing Insights Video

Hi fellow writers, and just a quick update to writing course students that the Joan Didion podcast is now made into a video, and available as a new lesson in The Complete Freelance Writing Course.

For those of you who are enrolled in the Freelance Writing Bootcamp, the Instagram Reel and Tik Tok video is now added to your course.

It’s been a busy month here in Wales so far as we had our national celebration of St David’s Day on March 1st. We produced an episode on Welsh poet RS Thomas to mark this, with guest Lewis Griffiths, who has just published his first novel ‘The Bell That Never Rang’. Lewis can also write poetry as you’ll hear in the podcast.

Lewis has recently retired as a vet in New Zealand where he had a stellar career, and where he wrote reports, papers and conference presentations. Now he’s to develop his creative writing. RS Thomas, podcast subject, worked as a religious minister throughout his life, and the hours left him plenty of time to pursue regular and disciplined poetry creation.

This theme of how we combine writing with other jobs and life experiences has got me thinking – and I’ll explore this further in coming months. Meanwhile, my favourite You Tuber has a fairly new video up, and it reinforces my zeal for learning from others: How To Read Like A Writer

If you’ve a favourite You Tuber on writing you’d like to recommend, then you’re most welcome to do so below – thanks!
